We’re locomotin’! Locomotion is one of our favourite ways to move - and the duck walk is one of our go to’s to get the ankles, knees, and hips warmed up!
🦆Duck Walk🦆
🍃Start standing, and shift weight into your right leg, connecting to your tripod foot. Step the left foot forward, connecting to the ground initially through the heel, midfoot, then ball of your foot. Weight shift to the left foot, continuing onward! As your body comes to understand this movement pattern, try going lower to the ground each time.
🍃Remember! Go backwards - don’t skip this step! Your future brain will thank you ;)
✨Foot Flicks✨
🤯🦶Shift weight to your standing leg, and externally rotate the working leg before extending forwards.
🤯🦶 Flick your foot up and down (not side to side) as fast as you can for 10-15 reps each foot.
Try this sequence 3X. Let us know how it goes!

Try these novel ways of walking. Note that there should be a soft bend for some movements
🦶Plantar flexion:Lift up on to the balls of your feet and walk around the space your in, going forwards, backwards, heck, throw in a grapevine or two!
🦶🦶 Outer Edge: Now that we’ve brought awareness to the outer edge of the foot (and perhaps how sensitive that area is) try walking this way. If you are prone to spraining or “rolling” your ankle, maybe give this a go on one foot and then the other. Actively press the ground away with the outer edge of your foot to propel yourself forward
🦶🦶🦶Inner edge: Keep a bend to the knees and weight towards the midline of your body.
🦶🦶🦶🦶Heel Strike: Challenge your balance and try walking on your heels!
Bonus brain points for walking backwards ;)
